MODIFIED MMA
(Strikes & Grappling - No Head Strikes)

1 x Single 3 Minute Round
(with a 1 minute overtime in the case of a draw)
 
Mouth guard & a protection cup/box must be worn
(competitor to use their own)

10oz MMA style gloves & shin pads/guards must be worn
(supplied by the promoter)

Rash top/tshirt & shorts must be worn, no shoes

The weight classes will be arranged on the day depending on the number of competitors
The weight classes where possible will be:

Scoring:
A sub-referee/judge shall judge using the 10 point must system

Strikes:
100% Power
Standard Punches, Kicks, Elbows & Knees to the Body or Legs ONLY
NO HEAD STRIKES OF ANY KIND
No strikes to the spine or neck
Strikes on the ground are allowed, but not to the head

Grappling:
Strikes whilst grounded are allowed
Most submissions are allowed
EXCEPT: no rotational locks to the legs or neck, ie No heel hooks, can openers or any type of twisting or rotation to the neck, spine or knee/ankle joints
Straight locks like knee/leg bars are allowed
Grabbing of own shorts is allowed (not rash top/tshirt)

Throws/Takedowns/Slams:
Most are allowed
EXCEPT: no spiking or driving an opponent head first downward

NO vaseline, oil or similar substances are to be used anywhere on the body or face

Finger/Toe nails must be cut short & not sharp

No Cornermen are required; however fellow team mates who have also entered the competition are allowed to coach from the sidelines

COMBAT GRAPPLING

No strikes of any kind whilst on the ground

A referee will score using the 4,3,2,1 point system
4 Points: Mount or Back Control (full or back with two leg hooks in)
3 Points: Guard Pass
2 Points: Takedown, Knee Ride, Sweep
1 Point: Advantage Point Only for a strong submission attempt
A submission or tapout (verbal or physical) will end the bout immediately

Scoring:
A sub-referee/judge shall judge using Red/Blue flags to declare the winner at the end of the match
Non activity from an athlete will result in the referee asking for activity, no improvement in activity will end the match immediately
An athlete who is dazed or rocked will end the bout immediately
A verbal submission will end the bout immediately (ie not wanting to continue)
A KO/TKO will end the bout immediately

Strikes:
75% Power
Standard Punches, Kicks to the Body & Head are allowed
Single knee & release to the body/legs only are allowed (no knees to the head)
No Elbows of any kind
No strikes to the spine or neck

Grappling:
Short standing Tie Ups, Takedowns, Sweeps are allowed
No Grounded Grappling of any kind

Throws/Slams:
No or Throws or slams of any kind

NO vaseline, oil or similar substances are to be used anywhere on the body or face

Rash top can be worn, wrestling shoes may be worn

The weight classes will be arranged on the day depending on the number of competitors

Scoring:
A referee will score using the 4,3,2,1 point system for scoring takedowns judged on amplitude and position of competitors, competitor may win cleanly by clean throw where feet are kept and opponent lands clear on the back
4 Points: for a 20 second pin clear of the legs
2 Points: for a 10 second pin clear of the legs
(Max 4 points via pin per match, additional pins don’t score)
A submission or tapout (verbal or physical) will end the bout immediately
A margin of 10 points gives technical victory to higher scorer
Extended groundwork is encouraged, inactivity will be called after three verbal commands by referee and competitor re-stood
